Teams: Twin Lakes, Andrean, Calumet, Rensselaer Central, Wheeler, Hanover Central
Last Season: This past year was one of the more successful ones for Twin Lakes in recent history as they put together a 20-7 record and won their third straight Sectional. However, for the rest of the teams in Sectional 18, this was a terrible year. No other team had over a .500 record but on the bright side they all either had nine or ten wins. It was an easy route for Twin Lakes as a very dominant team and this should be the last year with the Bennington Twins coming into their Senior season.
Contenders For 2016-17: Like we said, this should be the last of the high-end seasons for Twin Lakes. They have Bryce and Blake Bennington still in the back court but the loss of Dane Holmes will cause some flux. That inside presence that could step out was a big time weapon and that leaves some vulnerability. Now, where the pressure comes from could take a while to develop. Andrean, Wheeler, and Hanover Central aren’t likely to really put a ton of pressure this year as most of their top talent is gone although if you had to pick it might be Andrean with their ability to reload quickly. Look for Rensselaer Central to give it the best shot as they don’t lose a single player from last year. Their offense wasn’t stellar, averaging less than 50 points per game, however, everyone should be a year older and more in tune with the system. Calumet New Tech brings back a healthy portion as well
Players to Watch: The guy to watch this season is going to be Blake Bennington. Of the twins, he is more of the do-it-all guard. Bryce plays more on the point but because of the loss of 6’6 post Dane Holmes, Twin Lakes is going to have to find some way to replace his impact. While it isn’t a sure thing or a perfect fix, Blake has the ability to play in the middle of the floor and will go after rebounds. For Twin Lakes, they need to ease that loss as much as possible and Blake is the first man up at this point for the team.
