Teams: Avon, Brownsburg, Mooresville, Plainfield, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South
Last Season: Last year Terre Haute South had a few close games while locking up the championship en route to a 22-7 finish. Terre Haute North beat them twice in the regular season but were upset by Avon who fell to Terre Haute South 85-69 in the championship. Mooresville almost beat Terre Haute in the first round losing by just two and then Brownsburg almost took them out losing by seven.
Contenders for 2016-17: Terre Haute South should come out on top in this one again and be even better than last year. Terre Haute North lost a lot and they will be down this year. Mooresville also lost a lot of talent and should also be down this year. Avon lost four of their top five scorers but they will reload with a solid junior class and could be the second best team in the sectional. Brownsburg returns their top two scorers and could be a very interesting team to watch while Plainfield should look okay with their talent in the post.
Players to Watch: Jaylen Minnett from Terre Haute South along with DeAvion Washington will lead that team to the championship and beyond, both are easily DI players with Minnett committed to IUPUI. The player that will make the difference between a second and fifth place finish in the final standings within the sectional will be Evan Lowden from Avon. If he gets going and scores around 15 PPG then that will be the difference in the sectional and may lead to an upset.
