Last year the forward led St. Clair to state winning 22 of 30 games including a huge section final win over Cleveland for the right to go to state.
Mitchell has two more years left at St. Clair and he’s working hard so that his team can continue to experience a high level of success.
“I’m trying to get a lot of the guys in the gym working on the basics like ball handling and defense and some shooting, personally I’m really working on improving my outside shot a lot and also defense,” Weber told NHR.
“My defense has improved a lot from the previous season. AAU with Minnesota Select helped my defense tremendously and outside shot.
St. Clair was 22-8 last year with a 10-2 league records. Weber believes his team can be just as good as last year.
“My goals for the season is to get that conference title back and also make it just as far as last season because we definitely have the talent to make it that far,” said Weber.
Mitchell is the only starter back but he was the biggest contributor at 18 points and 10 rebounds a contest.
“Considering we lost four of our five starters I’m pretty confident that we filled most of those spots the difference from last year,” Mitchell said.
“We will have a lot more size than last year and I’m looking forward to getting to play on the perimeter a little bit more but still go down into the post when needed.”
Weber is an elite track and field athlete which has led to some high level programs making contact.
“I’ve got letters and some text messages from over 15 division one colleges for track and multiple division two schools for basketball,” said Weber.
“Just a few in contact are University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, University of Miami, University of Indiana, LSU, and Stanford also Northern Iowa, Southwest Minnesota State, Sioux Falls, Winona State, and Northern State are some of them in contact for basketball.”
