He has a nose for the basketball, dives after loose balls, and cuts hard without the ball to get open. Atkins can really shoot it from the perimeter. Mixes in a variety of pull up triples as well as some off the catch. Sets up his shot by moving on the baseline running his defender around to where he can find an open space to get his shot off. D3/NAIA prospect.
Atkins broke out at the PrepHoopsIllinois Top 250 Expo. He spoke about the camp.
“I think it is going really well. I liked a lot of the drills and how the games are set up. People are moving the ball.”
How would he breakdown his game?
“I am really energetic. I like pushing the ball up the floor. If people lay off me I am definitely going to shoot the ball. If they get up close I am going to shot fake and go past them to the basket.”
World Class Basketball was who he ran with on the circuit.
“I played point guard the majority of the time. That was a good program. We won three tournaments.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I went to a visit at Benedictine. I like their coach. I went on a visit to Rochester. In the summer to Barry and Grand Valley State for their elite camps. Elmhurst and Concordia are also in the mix.”
