He stands out in the transition game where he can finish as a wing or even handle it a bit. In the half court he is best slashing off the bounce where he can finish in the lane through contact with strength. Average jump shooter that settles too much for it at times. Potential defensively with his strength and toughness. Could be a low-major D1 prospect.
Acree spoke about his summer with Carbondale.
“It went well. We didn’t have one of our players in Zee Johnson so we were a little out of sync, but we managed to play good basketball.”
He will be teaming up with Johnson and Darius Beane as a core trio of juniors for the Terriers.
“We have a bigger role now. We have higher expectations now. We want a chance at state. We hope to get to that accomplishment.”
What is he working on in his game?
“I am trying to move out to the two. I have to work on my ball handling and jump shot.”
Western Illinois and SIU-Carbondale are a pair of programs that have shown early recruiting interest in the 2018 prospect.
