Moe is a respected shooter in Minnesota but he was dealt a setback over the summer months.
“This summer I suffered a stress fracture in my right leg so i had to take almost three months off and I used that time to get in the weight room and get a lot stronger,” Moe explained.
“Since my knee has been cleared I’ve either been in the gym or in the weight room doing a lot more conditioning, lifting, ball handling and getting up shots.”
Blake won just five games last season so what he wants from his junior year is change.
“My goals for this year are to completely change Blake basketball culture,” Moe said. “For a few years now we’ve had a poor culture around the basketball program and this year I have the chance to get basketball going in the right direction.
“We want to build a program so my goals are to change how Blake basketball is looked at from a weak, struggling program annually losing 20-25 games to a program that’s building something special, works hard and gets better.”
And how is that going to happen? Jack ran us through the plan. New Head Coach Tyler Biwan is a big part of that plan but so are the returning players.
“Last March everyone wanted the results without putting in any work and this summer we made a change to the program and let people know if they didn’t want to work hard they shouldn’t play,” Moe said.
“We started the hard work this past summer and have continued into the school year with team bonding activities and making sure everyone is working hard individually on their skills, conditioning and strength so they’re prepared for this upcoming season.”
Moe’s skills will get him to the college level. Right now a few schools are starting to call on him regularly.
“Right now I’m hearing from Sioux Falls, Briar Cliff and Winona State pretty consistently,” Jack said. “I get a letter here and there from some other schools but those three are the most consistent.
“I’m hoping once this season rolls around the recruitment starts to heat up and some offers come in and I can start to get a better idea of where a good fit would be.”
Some guys are going to see some schools but Jack is all about changing the culture of Blake and getting himself ready for this junior year. Visits will come soon though.
“So far I haven’t taken any unofficials or anything like that. I’m hoping to go on some visits this winter/spring.”
