The 6-foot-guard told PHMI that New Jersey D1 Saint Peter’s offered just before his sophomore season, but that he’s not heard from them in some time.
“Going into my sophomore year I picked up an offer from Saint Peters. I think it still stands, but it’s been awhile since I’ve heard from them,” said Hearns. “So I’m not sure if I have the offer, because the coach that recruited me has left.”
Other Division I programs have reached out to the talented guard via text.
“I haven’picked up any other offers, but I got contacted by Akron and Central Michigan. They’ve contacted me through text message,” Hearns said.
“I’m looking for more colleges to recruit me, basically.”.
A leader with a true point-guard mentality, Hearns defined his style of play.
“I’m a good decision-maker, pass-first true point guard, and I can knock down shots too,” said Hearns.
“I’m working to get my shot more consistent though, and to get more athletic. I need to get stronger too.”
After starting as a freshman and making major contributions as a sophomore, Hearns is now a wily veteran ready to lead the Vikings.
“My role this year is to try and lead my team to state championship,” he said. “And just be a leader on the team and help our teammates out.”
