The 6-foot-4 Southfield Christian shooting guard received his first offer from University of Buffalo after the final live period in July.
“I’m planning to get there during the season to watch one of their games,” said Washington.
And several other Division I programs are still in the mix with his recruitment.
“Some schools talking with me are Central Michigan, Colgate, William & Mary, Oakland and University of Detroit,” said Washington. “A school that has been showing the most interest is Central Michigan, so I hope that offer comes through. I’ve been on a visit there and it’s a really great school, and I really enjoyed it.”
Washington mentioned to PHMI that academics is a top priority for him.
“I definitely want to go to a college that will help me advance my career after basketball. So I want to go to a very good academic school that’s also competitive,” said Washington.
“I’m really hoping to find the best fit and the right coach, and the right college. And I pray about it everyday, and I just hope God gets me to where he wants me to be.”
Still with his senior season left to pick up some late interest and possible offers, Washington says says this team has a chance to be state champs, which would undoubtedly bolster his recruitment.
“One thing I want to do is show my skill-set for colleges, and see what school ends up being the best fit for me in the spring,” said Washington.
“This year I am a captain again, so it’ll be more of a leadership role and making sure that everybody is on the same page. And I’m really excited about it, I think we have a really good chance at winning the state tournament.”
