Last year as a sophomore Burton averaged 10.7 PPG and 7.5 RPG en route to a stellar sophomore showing. This year on the gridiron, Burton has helped his team go deep into the playoffs. Burton has taken visits for football, but none quite yet for basketball and at this point he is unsure which he wants to play at the next level.
On the basketball front, Burton really worked on his game this summer and it sets him up well for the next school season. Burton is a big body in the post and he only should get better this year.
“I feel like I have gotten faster and stronger. I really hit the weight room this summer and felt like I have bettered myself as a player. My main focus is to hit the weight room, get some shots up, and work on my speed and ability more.”
The coaches that have spoke to Burton over the summer during his AAU season have multiple things they are very keen about his game.
“They like that I can step out and hit an outside shot and I can also post up and do work inside. They like the mismatches I present whether I am on a big or a guard and handle it and just being able to be an athlete.”
This upcoming basketball season, Danville has a tough schedule and has not had a losing season for 18 years. All this complemented with a strong core makes Burton look forward to his junior season.
“I am looking forward to having fun with my team and doing the best we can to succeed. It should be a fun year and a year to get better.”
Looking towards his future if Burton decides to play only basketball in college he has an idea of what type of college he is looking for.
“I would be looking for the ability to play all around and just be an athlete. I want a school that has team work and leadership and a school that would be a good fit for me while being one that is fun to be at.”
