Continue ReadingWarren 2018 power forward Skylar Kooyenga continues to improve every time we see him. He was outstanding this fall at both the PrepHoopsIllinois Top 250 Expo and the NY2LA Futures Camp. The Warren power forward stands at 6’9” with long arms and a projectable frame. He has skilled footwork around the hoop and uses his length to get his jump hook off at its highest point. Solid passing big and can hit the offensive glass. Moves a little awkward at times as it seems he is still growing into his body. This is a prospect that is going to fly up the board in the next rankings.
Kooyenga spoke about his breakout fall.
“I think I have played well. I have really improved and it has been a great opportunity to get myself out there.”
He ran with Full Package last summer on the circuit.
“I really like it there because they push us to be our best.”
What are the strengths of his game?
“I do a lot of mid-range shooting. I post up, like to rebound, and run the floor.”
Nothing going on with recruiting, but needs to be monitored this year by low-major and D2 programs.
