“I was talking to them a lot, and I went and practiced with them and spent the night with the guys on the team. And then I received an offer from them and verbally committed,” said Pavleka.
“I really like that school, so it’s pretty exciting.”
Pavelka elaborated on what specifically he enjoyed about his visit to the school.
“What I really liked was the atmosphere of the college,” said Pavelka. “It wasn’t so much a basketball-based decision, I’m going to love to play basketball for them, but just walking around the campus everyone was very supportive and seemed happy to see me and glad I came for a visit and everything.”
An athletic and versatile wing with good size, Pavelka says that’s what the Cougar coaches liked best about him.
“They liked my athleticism mostly, and that I know where to be on the floor and I have a good sense of basketball IQ,” said Pavelka. “They liked that I can play multiple positions, and that I know where to be and how to guard multiple positions.”
But before he can star at the local NAIA school, he has an entire senior season to lead the Red Hawks — their first game is Dec. 9.
“I’m the tallest guy on the team, so I’ll have to get into that role sometimes of guarding the other team’s biggest player,” said Pavelka.
“It’s going to be completely different for me this year. We lost seven seniors last year, so myself and the other seniors are going to need to step up our leadership and teach the younger guys what it takes to win.”
