Profile:
Finke has been one of the top prospects regardless of class in the state since he started high school. He will be in his second season playing for his dad at Champaign Central. What makes Finke such a coveted prospect is his versatility being able to do everything well. Plus shooter that moves without the ball, but is also a quality athlete playing above the rim. Strong summer with St. Louis Eagles.
Odds to Win:
15/1
Why he Can Win:
Finke is a stat sheet stuffer that should have a 20/5/5 type season this year as a junior. He is an outstanding team player that for his high school team has a sense of when he needs to take over. The edition of Doug Wallen will give Finke a running mate to play off and allow him to not see so much constant defensive pressure. He will garner quite a few votes from central Illinois writers.
Obstacles to Win:
Like we mentioned with Dosunmu it is extremely difficult for any non-senior to win this award. That is the first obstacle. Also while Finke is well known in the recruiting circles and to voters in central Illinois he isn’t quite a house hold name across the rest of the state from a high school basketball standpoint yet.
