Profile:
Smith is a long and lanky small forward from Stevenson High School. He is a plus athlete that knows how to play above the rim. As a junior last year Smith made a big jump and that continued on throughout the spring and summer with the Mac Irvin Fire on the grassroots circuit. The biggest area of growth has been in his motor and desire to take over games when needed. His confidence is at an all-time high.
Odds to Win:
12/1
Why he Can Win:
The Stevenson 2017 wing is one of the best prospects in the senior class in the state of Illinois. He currently ranks #3 overall in the class. That alone puts him in the discussion for the award. Another factor you have to look at is his game is continuing to go up at a skyrocket pace ever since the middle of his junior year. The best is yet to come!
Obstacles to Win:
Stevenson while expected to be a very good team might not quite be on the state title contender level that some of the other top candidates have surrounding them. His supporting cast will have to step up in order for Smith to be up for this honor in March.
