Profile:
Tilmon moved back to the state after spending his junior year at prep power La Lumiere (IN). He is a skilled 6’10” back to the basket post that can score in a variety of ways. Has really become a dominant low post force over the last year playing more physical around the hoop. Can also step out to hit a face up jump shot. Solid rebounder and quality rim protector as a shot blocker. He has committed to Illinois.
Odds to Win:
3/1
Why he Can Win:
Tilmon is the most talented player in the state. Changes the game on both ends of the floor with his scoring, rebounding, and shot blocking. He has the rock star appeal that it takes to win the award too. Converts flashy dunks and is a dominant force for anyone that watches him. He will be the go to man without question for his team. Will play games in Chicago, central Illinois, and high profile Thanksgiving and Holiday tournaments. Also the fact that he is committed to in-state Illinois will help him in the voting as well.
Obstacles to Win:
The first might be team record. East St. Louis should be pretty solid this season. They did better than expected last year without Tilmon. Will they have a record that rivals some of the other top contenders? The other is the fact that Tilmon is coming off shoulder surgery that held him out of the entire grassroots season.
