All state talent Tye Evers of Huron High talked with PHD today about his influences in the game.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
“My favorite part about game days is watching the other teams play (JV, B, Frosh, etc) and listening to music.”
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
“Our crowd is unique because they are always so into the games and the most memorable thing they’ve done is they made it so loud that we couldn’t yell the plays to each other.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in South Dakota basketball and why?”
“The toughest player I’ve played against is Kevin Kaiser because he was so versatile.”
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
“Our biggest rival is Mitchell and what makes it so heated and memorable is the history and how everyone gets into it.”
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
“My favorite player in the world is Derrick Rose because I have watched him since I was a kid.”
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
“My favorite venue would be the Stanford Pentagon.”
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
“My dream court to play on would be Oakland’s court.”
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
“We do a lot of camps with the kids and they all talk to us when we see them around town.”
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
“The best advice I have received was never try, try is a three letter word for failure and it was from Tim Buddenhagen.”
Who is your basketball influence?
“I am influenced by my coaches to keep getting better at basketball.”
