At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
“The best part of game day is the atmosphere of the school during the day. Students will come up to me to ask when the game starts, and that school spirit is amazing.”
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
“My favorite part of the crowd is always the student section. It is a great feeling to be able to look up at them and see familiar faces and to know that you represent the school.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in South Dakota basketball and why?
“Sam Siganos is one of the toughest players that I have faced in South Dakota because in our game, he broke his jaw, yet came back to have a stellar performance.”
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
“Spearfish has always been one of our biggest rivals. They are always a good matchup for us, and the games between us are always some of the most memorable.”
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
“Michael Jordan has always been one I have looked up to because of his passion for the game and toughness on the court not to mention that he revolutionized basketball.”
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
“Nike has always provided good comfort and performance for me.”
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
“The most memorable venue that I have experienced would have to be the state championship game for 2016. The energy and emotion was indescribable.”
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
“I think that the most intense game setting would be the NCAA championship game, and for me it would be at the Division II level.”
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
“Varsity players always take on more of a leadership role towards younger players. We make sure that they know they have to succeed in the classroom in order to succeed on the court, and on the court we make sure they know that they must always work hard.”
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
“The best coaching advice is to practice as if you are already at the next level. That was from Coach Hollenbeck.”
Who is your basketball influence?
“One of my biggest influences in basketball would be my teammate Jake Satter. His love for the game and work ethic in getting better helps the entire team to work harder.”
