Damion Squire waited his turn patiently last year and is now ready to show what kind of talent he has. Last year, Squire played behind current Utah State University star Koby McEwen and did not get much playing time. This year he has wasted little time by earning All-Tournament Team at the West Valley Tip Off Classic in California. Squire’s recruitment has been quiet to this point but I’m sure it will blow up during his junior year.
When asked about his team this year Squire said, “I believe we have a very good team this year and we play very well together. I think we we can compete with anyone in the country.” Squire also mentioned the biggest games on Wasatch’s schedule as Findlay Prep, IMG Academy, and Chino Hills. When asked about his strengths as a player Squire said, “ I’m good at using my body and quickness to get to the rim and finish on bigger defenders. A majority of my points come from in the paint. I also love playing defense and take pride in shutting down whoever I’m guarding.” Talking about his weaknesses Squire said, “I have been working on my shooting but it still has a ways to go. I think once I get my shot right I will be a high level player. I’m dedicated to becoming a better shooter and it’s only a matter ot time.” Squire has heard from several Ivy league schools but there is a good chance he will hear from some high mid majors this year. He has the ability to be an explosive scoring guard at the next level.
