Walker’s Jalen Perkins has not seen his recruitment take off just yet, but there is one in-state program that is keeping an eye on the 6-foot-6 junior.
“I’ve talked to Northwestern State, and that’s it so far. I’ve been texting with their head coach,” said Perkins, currently Louisiana’s 63rd-ranked 2018.
“I hope I get some more colleges to start looking at me this year.”
Listed as a forward, Perkins says his preference is to play small forward and attack from the perimeter.
“I’m more of a small forward, I like driving the ball and either kicking or scoring. I can shoot a little bit and I dunk a lot, I get a lot of rebounds,” he said.
“I’m working to improve my defense right now.”
Last Thursday Perkins and the Wildcats started their season with a resounding 79-31 win over Independence. He says his role this season is very similar to last season; get buckets and pull down boards.
“My role is a lot the same this season as it was last season, we started four sophomores last season and a junior,” said Perkins.
“My goal for myself this season is to average a double-double.”
