After a big-time junior year where he averaged nearly 17 points per game, 5 rebounds, and 4 assist per game Eli is not content. Wasatch has lost four out of five starters from last season and will heavily depend on Ballstaedt to carry them if they want a return trip to the state tournament. When asked about his team this year, he said “I’m very excited for this group and I think we have a chance to be really good. We are going to be small, which means will run a lot on offense which is what I like to do. I know we have some inexperienced guys but I think their ready for the varsity level.”
When asked about his strengths Eli said, “my shooting has always been my biggest strength and I feel like i’m become an even better shooter from last year. I feel like i’m a high IQ player that makes the right play for my team”. When asked about his weaknesses, Ballstaedt said “I feel my quickness and strength is one thing i’ve tried to work on this past summer. I think I’m much quicker than last season and I hope it shows when playing quicker guards.” After a nice summer with the Utah Basketball Club Ballstaedt’s recruiting has picked up. He currently has a preferred walk-on spot at the University of Utah. Ballstaedt also has offers from Division 2 Chaminade University, Division 3 George Fox University, and junior college powerhouse Salt Lake Community College.
