- Timpview- The Thunderbirds lost all 5 starters, which included BYU commit and 2016 ESPN Top 100 Gavin Baxter. So what do they do? Reload, like they do every single year in Provo. By bringing in an ultra-talented sharp shooting guard line of Hunter Erickson, Jordan Sagers, and Adam Santiago, the T-Birds are poised for another deep state tournament run.
- Skyridge- The Falcons begin the season as one of the most unknown teams in the state, but Jeff Gardner and his staff have done it all to get the team ready for the Falcons first season in Lehi. The Falcons will be led by Marcus Draney, a 3 year starter at Lehi and one of the most potent scorers in the state. Senior forward Chase Berry will truly be a difference maker on the defensive end of the floor, where he is able to guard the opposing teams best player on a regular basis, and that could lead to him being named the defensive player of the year in 4A.
- Mountain View- The Bruins could argue that they may have the best backcourt in the region and all of 4A, as they return star point guard Ricky Stafford and the 3 and D specialist Kedrick Clayton. The Bruins have a lot to prove on both ends of the floor, but Stafford should be first team all-state and a major force to recon with all season long.
- Corner Canyon- Dan Lunt takes over as the Chargers head coach and many things could change in Draper. Lunt brings years of experience and toughness to this Chargers team. Zach Wilson will be the difference maker for the Chargers, the junior guard is the only returning starter and is one the top Junior’s in the state in both basketball and on the gridiron as the football teams signal caller.
- Alta- 6‘4 Connor Fulton and 6’3 Taylor Moore again add a lethal combination in the back court in Region 7. Fulton and Moore look to pace the Hawks to a state tournament birth with their size, length, and experience from last year. Look for Coach Barker to have another strong defensive minded team.
- Orem- The Tigers are led by sophomore standout Puka Nacua and junior sharp shooter Ross Reeves. The Tigers boast one of the youngest teams in 4A and that may catch up to them when facing bigger stronger opponents. Nacua brings a special blend of pure strength and athletic ability. Can the sophomore guard get all of these young players together and on the same page to make it to the tournament.
- Timpanogas- 3 year starter Conner Halford will be the leader for Timberwolves again this season. He has a strong frame and is an above average 3 point marksmen. Coach Ingle will play a havoc type defense, including a large amount of full and half court pressing. Look for them to try and get up and down the floor in transition, but struggle to stop people when the game is on the ling.
- Provo- 6’6 Senior forward Braxton Bailey was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs last year and is looking to add to that. Look for him to be one of the top scorers in 4A and help lead Provo back to the playoffs for the first time in 2 years. Who will fill the void at point guard for the Dogs and be able to get the ball to Bailey in positions to succeed will be a huge factor in how the Bulldogs season ends up playing out.
