Conference Commentary
State Contender: None
Top 10 Right Now: None
Compete with Most: Central, Highland Park, Johnson, Washington
To differentiate between the teams right now is difficult because the teams with the most back are not the defending champions Johnson and Central but their programs have been the best and their younger programs have been the best. Vern Simmons is a fantastic coach and I feel guilty saying the 13 year run could come to a close but this kind of has the feel that it may. Why? Because there isn’t much back with experience at all while Highland Park and Washington have a lot back in experience and Central has some back that have played and contributed. I believe Curtis Bell is the best player in the league but he needs more around him for them to surpass Johnson and Central. Highland Park has the most back so they should be pretty good.
In Between: Harding and Como Park.
I believe that Jovan Christian will be a guy that can really change things for the Harding program. He’s an excellent young guard coming off a nice freshman season. There are four guys total from last year’s rotation. At Como Park brings back a couple starters but has a lot to replace.
Rebuilding: Humboldt
I like how Humboldt scheduled last year. They lost all league games but were 8-5 out of the league and in my opinion the program has to put some wins on the board to get forward. They did that a bit, now they need to win a couple league games.
