Hockert spent the spring and summer playing grassroots with the Minnesota Comets and Chris Kirchner and a solid AAU season which followed a strong junior year. That success has him garnering a lot of interest from a number of local schools.
“I’ve gotten letters from quite a few MIAC schools, Jamestown, maybe seven or eight schools in total,” said Hockert. “The school showing the most interest has been concordia moorhead. They had me up for an official visit. That was a lot of fun. I like their staff a lot. It’s been a fun process. Its nice having people reach out to you and show interest.”
While Hockert has no shortage of options, he also wants to take his time in making a decision.
“I want to keep my options open,” said Hockert. “I know some kids want to get it over with and commit before the season. I think the extra time can help with the recruiting process because it can give me another year and showing what i can do. I don’t have a timeline, I think I’ll just know when I’m ready.”
Hockert averaged 14 points while connecting on 41 percent of his 3-pointers as a junior at Alexandria. The Cardinals won 19 games a year ago and Hockert has high hopes for this upcoming season.
“We’re pretty excited about what we’ve got,” said Hockert. “We’re really excited, I think we’ll be up there as one of the top teams in our section and in the conference.”
