The junior, who is originally from Winchester, Virginia, is one of the most improved players we’ve seen over the past six months.
“I think i’m a pass first point guard,” Gilkerson said when asked to describe his game. “I’ve been working on my jump shot, but I like to drive to the basket and create contact.”
Gilkerson will play a huge role this season, especially as a leader, for Dragons Head Coach Jaye Haggler. Over the summer and this fall, Gilkerson demonstrated an improved jump shot from long range.
“Working on getting that (mid-and-three point range) down pat and i think I’ll become a complete player soon,” said Gilkerson.
Gilkerson is a solid student who carries a respectable 3.1 GPA in the classroom. He claims current interest from programs such as Lehigh and Chestnut Hill among other low major division one and division two programs.
What can coaches who are recruiting Gilkerson expect him to bring to their program at the next level?
“Hard work. My work ethic. A never give up attitude. I don’t take any plays off.”
