“It was tons of fun,” said Ryan Domres, a forward from St. Louis Park. “I really loved playing with the guys on that team and it was a great experience being able to get to know them and play with them.”
Domres felt like a much more versatile player after his summer with Fury.
“I felt like I really was able to make the transition from being stuck at the 4 or 5 to being able to play anything from the 2-5. I also feel like my perimeter defense improved and I feel like I can guard any position. I’m 6’3” and my strengths are being a good vocal leader and being a solid defensive presence on the court as well as being a strong finisher inside on offense
As far as Domres’ college search, he has started to tour a little bit.
“I took a visit to Augsburg, and St. Scholastica was showing interest in me as well. I’m just keeping my options open and seeing what comes in the next few months. From the schools that I’ve toured, I have to say that I’m more of a fan of the mid-sized colleges, but I’m not ruling anything out. I want to get to a few more schools before I decide on anything.”
In preparation for his senior season, Domres is lifting weights and attending open gyms. SLP also has two fall leagues before the season officially starts.
Domres averaged 9.7 PPG as a junior for SLP. Also returning are key varsity pieces Cire Mayfield, Joe Whitlock and Mykal Howard. For a program that has suffered some rough seasons in recent years, they could be ready to make a really nice jump.
