“Jesse is a gym rat who is always wanting to get better,” said Coach Kyle Haberman from Lake Park-Audubon. “We as coaches have had to tell him to take days off.
“He puts in hours by himself as well as with his teammates. He doesn’t see himself as a leader but constantly leads by example. He would run through a wall for his coaches and teammates.”
Bergh spent part of his off-season playing with Minnesota Crossfire and most of it working on his own.
“He has improved immensely over the summer,” Coach Haberman said. “He worked very hard on his ability to see the floor and find his spots. His midrange game is better than most big men in the state.
“I expect him to be one of the best players in the state this year. He has only played basketball for two years and has constantly become better.”
Jesse took his team to the state tournament last year averaging 22.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 4.3 blocks per game shooting 64.6 percent from the field and 63.4 percent foul shooting. Those numbers will only get better and schools are calling.
“Most Summit league schools and NSIC schools have been in contact,” said Jesse’s coach. “He has had multiple offers but will more than likely play out his senior year and go from there.”
