“Jack is a very skilled player,” said Lakeville South Coach Nicholas Gruhlke. “He handles the ball better than most guards and can score with anyone. He has range well beyond the three-point line and can also score at the rim. Jack is already the school record holder in career assists, steals, 3FG made and free throw percentage.
“He will likely end up the schools leading scorer with over 2,000 points and also second on the career rebound list. As you would imagine, we rely on Jack to do a little bit of everything for us. He makes his teammates better.
“They have to push themselves to keep up with his style and have to work hard to defend him in practice.”
Sorenson spent his off-season playing in the D1 Minnesota program once again and he bulked up with regular workouts at the Lakeville South Cougar facilities.
“Since last season, Jack has worked hard to get stronger,” said Gruhlke “He knows strength is a major key to being successful against our difficult schedule and in his future. Jack is a gym rat, so he has spent countless hours in the gym getting shots up.
“Jack shot a solid 45 percent from three last year, but I would expect that number to increase. I expect Jack to become an even better leader this season as a senior. In conversations with Jack this off-season he has one thing on his mind, the state tournament.”
Sorenson has over time been offered scholarships by six different division one schools. Right now four different programs are the ones that have been checking on him.
“This fall UW-Green Bay, Cal Poly, Siena and Quinnipiac have shown interest in him,” the Coach stated.
