Right now there are two schools that have identified Gardette as a potential prospect, and he’s eager to get back to work this season with the Gators to showcase what he can do.
“I know Madonna wanted me to come to some open gyms, and the Concordia coach wanted me to come to some open gyms and some camps too, but that’s really it,” said Gardette.
“I hope that I get a lot of coaches to look at me this year, because this year will be my best year. I just hope I get some (coaches) to come to my games.”
Over the spring and summer Gardette mentioned that improving his ball-handling was an emphasis of his.
“I’ve really been working on my ball-handling and my finishing. Before I couldn’t dribble as good, but I know I’m going to have to play point guard this season, so I’ve really been working on that,” said Gardette, who outlined his 17U season.
“I feel like I played good, it was a really good last season, I didn’t really speak to a lot of college coaches, but I thought I played really well.”
Currently Gardette is playing soccer to stay in shape for basketball, and his senior season is starting in just over two weeks.
“Last year I came off the bench because I was new, but this year I’ll start and I’ll have to score 20 or more points for us to win,” he said. “And I’m basically the captain of the team this year.”
