“I’ve got some schools that are interested in me, like MidAmerica Nazarene and Grambling State University. And there’s another Division III in New York that’s interested in me,” said the Lafayette senior.
“They’ve called my dad, and have invited me to camps.”
He added: “I’ll be open to any school at the next level, and it doesn’t matter what level it’s at. Recruitment is definitely something I’m focused on right now, and I’m pretty sure I’ll get some offers because I’m going to showcase what I can bring to the next level.”
Currently a combo-guard, Onezime says he excels as a sharpshooter for the Lions, but is working to become more of a facilitator.
“I’m best at shooting the ball, I can spread the floor because they have to respect my jump shot and it helps others get wide-open shots,” said Onezime.
“Right now I’m trying to transition into a point guard and to become more of a facilitator than a scorer. For college I’m being recruited as a point guard, so that’s why I’m transitioning.”
Though the talented senior did not did not play grassroots this past spring and summer, he was able to improve some parts of his game while working out on his own.
“I’m working on my ball-handling, and getting more comfortable and confident with it. And then just being more of a pass-first guard than a shooting guard,” said Onezime.
“I got stronger and I’ve become much better with my ball-handling and things of that nature.”
Last season with the Lions Onezime told PHLA he averaged 17 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game. So naturally, much is expected of him during an upcoming senior season.
“This year I’m going in a s a focal point of the team and the leader of the team,” said Onezime. “The coaches expect a lot out of me.”
