PF Jackson Tanner (Latin – 2019)
Tanner played extremely well at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo where he put his name on the map. The Latin 6’6” post continued his strong play at Pangos. He is a skilled post that has a soft touch around the hoop. Tanner has the ability to finish with both hands and is particularly effective with his jump hook. Also stretches the defense with a 15-18 foot jumper. Runs the floor outstanding for a big man. Active offensive rebounder. Tanner will make a big debut next time the rankings are updated.
C Cameron Bartman (St. Rita – 2019)
Came away very intrigued with this 6’9” post player. He is not overly mobile, but rebounds very well inside his area. Big bodied center that was best offensively finishing second chance opportunities. There is a ways to go here, but he already has legit size.
SG Rodney Clemons (Curie – 2019)
Clemons stood out at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo last month with his perimeter shooting. He was a little more streaky at this event, but that is definitely his strength as a player at this stage.
SG Samuel Herenton (Stevenson – 2019)
Herenton is the younger brother of Rodney and Willie who both have been on the radar over the years. Samuel is a 6’0” shooting guard with a rangy frame. He should grow a couple more inches. Herenton hit several mid-range jumpers in the top 60 game.
SG Myles Baker (Whitney Young – 2019)
Baker is one of the premier wing prospects in the state’s 2019 class. The 6’2” shooting guard from Whitney Young can really score. He is silky smooth with the ball being able to handle it and get where he needs on the floor. His jumper is his go too! Baker can hit mid-range jumpers for days where he stops and pops with elevation and sound mechanics. Stretches out to three on occasion. Just an effortless scorer. Potential high-major prospect.
PF Khalid Herron (Phoenix Military Academy – 2019)
Herron is built like a football player at 6’5” with a thick and physical body. The Phoenix Military Academy post is a volume rebounder that gobbles them up in bunches. Boxes out and wins 50/50 boards. Motor helps him rebound outside of his area as well. Offensively he is a bit raw, but shows power finishing with dunks. If this kid grows a couple more inches watch out. Quality post defender as well.
PG Sentwali Nalls (Whitney Young – 2019)
Nalls was impressive at the Pangos Top 60 game. He is a 6’0” point guard that has slick handles. Has the ability to put his defender in the spin cycle and shake them out of their shoes. Can get to the hoop and is a capable shooter. One to track more.
PG Antonio Reeves (Kenwood – 2019)
Reeves is a long and projectable 6’2” combo guard. He can play both on and off the ball. He is at his best shooting it from beyond the arc. The Kenwood sophomore did that at a high rate. Reeves is adequate at drilling them both off the catch and bounce equally. Even hit one tough step back three with a defender in his face. Lots of arc on shot. Potential low-major prospect.
SF Jeremiah Oden (St. Rita – 2019)
Huge fan of what this 6’6” small forward brings to the table. Long and lanky forward with a projectable body to grow even more both height wise and gain more strength. He has skill at his size with handles slashing to the hoop. Even had a nice euro step through traffic that was incredibly impressive. Capable shooter from mid-range that can stretch it to three on occasion. Like the upside in this kid after seeing him several times this fall. Should be on the D1 radar as he will rise into the top 15-20 in the next rankings.
PG Treye Tucker (Christian Life – 2019)
As the PA announcer called him Treye “White Chocolate” Tucker is a crowd favorite as always. Tucker has the ball on a string and had a one on one battle with a guard from the other team in the top 30 game. They went back and forth. Tucker was juking and jiving in the lane with his sick handles. Also has deep range on his jump shot. He is only listed at 5’8” so he will definitely need to grow to reach his upside, but with his ball handling, swagger, and shooting he is one to watch.
PF Dechaun Anderson (Leo – 2019)
Anderson is the classic junk yard dog player. He gets the most out of his talent. The Leo 6’5” power forward is a bulldog around the hoop both rebounding and finishing through contact. Showed a little handle in transition, but overall isn’t very skilled and I don’t think he is going to grow with an already physical upper body.
F Kevon Mayers (Bogan – 2019)
Mayers stands at 6’5” with a strong body. Built like a running back. Plays with a motor and toughness. Hit a three in the game we saw.
PF Trayce Jackson-Davis (Center Grove, IN – 2019)
Jackson-Davis was one of the more intriguing upside out of state prospects we saw. The 6’8” power forward has a long and rangy frame. Projectable body. Outstanding rebounder on both ends of the floor. High points the ball above other defenders. Shot blocking presence on the defensive end coming from the weakside. Offensively he runs the floor like a deer and finishes with ferocious dunks inside. Mid-major prospect for sure and potential high-major.
