Last Year
North won the league last year and then won state with a 29-5 record. Henry improved to 20 wins a season ago and earned second place in the league. South, Roosevelt, Southwest, and Washburn all went back and forth with one another in the middle of the league.
Conference Commentary
State Contender: Minneapolis North
Minneapolis North lost three of their top scorers but still return a pair of double figure scoring starters in Odell Wilson and Isaac Johnson plus Jaquan Sanders-Smith returns. They are the favorite to win Class A but of course have a bit of a different team so things are different but they have the most talent in the Class.
Top 10 Right Now: Minneapolis Henry
If you had to pick more contenders to win Class AAA after DeLaSalle the Patriots from Henry would be among the group of 4-5 teams. Not only do they have three really nice players back in Wood, Lynn, and Scott, but the group of role players is quality and they added a couple nice transfers too. They are a top five level talent team in Class AAA.
Compete with Most: Roosevelt, Washburn
Roosevelt lost their two best scorers but the team will still be good with a decent senior class and good youth coming up. Washburn has several guards that could lead them to a solid year.
In Between: South
South is a bit of a mystery. Much of their rotation from a 14-13 team is gone so what they will be is tough to know. Joe Hyser always has them playing hard though so it’s not to a rebuild status.
Rebuilding: Edison, Southwest, Fair
Edison didn’t even play part of last season because of numbers but they do have some young guys with experience. Southwest recently changed coaches (second year at the school I believe) so they are starting to put some things together, and Fair won three games a year ago but is now with a new coach and a in a new conference. Edison won just a single game last year and had to cancel games so they may be rebuilding more than Fair.
