Don Brewer (6’1 – 2017 – Homeschool) – When you have seen a lot of homeschool kids over the years, you understand that in a lot of ways they are much different than your typical high school player. The one thing that makes Brewer standout is his aggressiveness. He doesn’t hold back and he’s a guy that lead a team, which isn’t something that homeschool point guards are usually known for.
Alex King (6’8 – 2017 – Columbus North) – King played his first game fully recovered and he looked quite a bit better. He put up some big numbers (19 and 24 points in his two games) and while still lacking strength, he did fight through a lot in the low post to score a good chunk of his points. That part of his game needs to improve and it was good to see him use it more than he did this summer.
Daulton Blackwell (6’5 – 2017 – Mitchell) – The last couple of times I have seen Daulton he has shot the ball better. Really it is just more consistently and that is key for him. He had 19 points in the second game and really looked solid on his release. Will be key to see how he looks over the course of the next few weeks in this league to see how his shooting holds up.
Emmanuel Little (6’6 – 2017 – North Central) – Little started off a little slow but then really got going at the end. He showed that he could stretch the floor a bit although it is still a work in progress. However, this was good Emmanuel, the guy with bounds of energy and made plays all over the floor. When he’s on like he was this weekend he’s a flat out stud.
Trevor Lakes (6’7 – 2017 – Lebanon) – Lakes had such a great start to the spring but then wasn’t near as sharp during July. On Sunday, he was quite good yet again making plays all over the court. He had a few really good defensive plays closing out on defenders and then shot the ball really well. He’s such a good player when his shot is on and nearly impossible to stop.
Erick Shepherd (6’6 – 2017 – Mt. Vernon-Fortville) – Not sure where Shepherd will be at next season but he’s going to be an impact player. He’s really become more assertive especially in the mid-range where he was already pretty good. I love how he is so creative and his size/athleticism allows him to do so much in that area. He’s a guy that is going to be on a roster a few years down the road being really productive.
