Jamal Nixon to Minnesota State
Minnesota State got an absolute steal on Tuesday night as the D2 program landed a commitment from Fenwick 2017 shooting guard Jamal Nixon.
“From the first time I was able to meet face to face with Coach Margenthaler and his staff and step on campus I fell in love with the school and the basketball program. There was a real connection between me and the coaching staff after my official visit and I knew that this is place where I wanted to be. Coach Margenthaler and his staff has taken off with that program over the past 16 years and that is a winning program that is the right fit and what I want to be apart of.”
What I love about Nixon is he brings his toughness and versatility to the table every single night. He has matured over the years into an outstanding leader. Nixon was the captain of the Illinois Wolves on the circuit and it was evident that he was the guy that they followed. His versatility is his calling card. He might not standout in one area, but it is his stat sheet stuffing ability across the board that is impressive. Scoring on the interior, being a plus passing wing, outstanding rebounder from the guard position, and defends. The kid is just a winner and guy that every successful basketball team needs.
Nixon ranks as the #28 overall prospect in the 2017 class and #6 shooting guard.
