Today we unveil prospects #41-#45!
#41 SF Johnny Roeser (Carmel – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Roeser is one of the higher upside wings in the sophomore class across the state. He has size at 6’4”, length, and athleticism along with a projectable game and frame for the collegiate level. Roeser is smooth with the ball in his hands. Very slick defender that gets in the lane with ease and to the spot he needs so he can get his shot off. Plus passer with a feel for finding his teammates. Rebounds well for his position and is an underrated defender that knows how to use length and can block a jumper on occasion. One of the top prospects at the small forward spot in that class early in the process.
#42 SG Armon Brummett (Decatur MacArthur – 2018)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Brummett is a 6’3” shooting guard from Decatur MacArthur High School. The 2018 prospect is one of the best pure scorers in his class across the state. He has a strong and compact body to go along with solid athleticism. Where the junior guard is at his best is shooting it from three. Deep range on his shot as he can hit both pulling up and off the catch. Love the way he competes and his motor. Powerful finisher around the hoop and gets on the glass using his strength. Needs to be on the D1 radar in 2018.
#43 PG Mark Smith (Edwardsville – 2017)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Smith is a dual sport star from Edwardsville that could play either basketball or baseball at the D1 level. The physical 6’4” point guard is a power guard that knows how to use that strength to get in the lane where he finishes at the hoop through contact. Compliments that well with a quality jumper from both mid-range and three. Outstanding rebounder from the lead guard position and has a feel for the game as a point guard.
#44 PG Evan Gilyard (Simeon – 2017)
Last Year’s Rank: #18
Gilyard is a quick and shifty left handed lead guard that isn’t the tallest, but plays with speed. He is best in the open floor where he pushes the tempo and makes plays. Slippery through traffic with the ball in his hands and has the body control to convert acrobatic layups at the rim. Streaky shooter from beyond the arc, but can get on hot streaks for short periods of time. Solid distributor and pesky on ball defender.
#45 Lucas Williamson (Whitney Young – 2017)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Williamson really helped his stock with a solid and productive circuit for Meanstreets. The thing you have to like about Williamson is he is a team first player that is versatile and does everything solid. He isn’t flashy with his play, but stuffs the stat sheet. Solid shooter that can hit pull up jumpers and an open three. Good handles, quality passer, and defends on the perimeter.
