Today we unveil prospects #1-#5!
#1 C Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis – 2017)
Last Year’s Rank: #1
Tilmon is an elite potential McDonald’s All-American type prospect. He is a supremely talented low post player with the ability to score with his back to the basket with a variety of post moves. Can step out to hit a face up jumper on occasion. Defensively he impacts the game with his rebounding and shot blocking ability where he is a great rim protector.
#2 C Francis Okoro (Normal West – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Okoro established himself not only as the clear #1 player in 2019, but as one of the best prospects regardless of class in the state. At 6’8” and 225 pounds he is built like a college basketball player already with incredible raw strength. He might have been the best pure rebounder at the Nike Elite 100 Camp for the best young prospects in the country. The Normal West sophomore was an absolute BEAST on the boards. He rebounds both in and out of his area using his quickness and athleticism high pointing balls and throwing strong outlet passes. As a scorer he hits the offensive glass extremely hard for second chance points. Also utilizes his quickness inside to finish with a variety of hooks and dunks. His motor and desire to want to be great is in a top tier. On occasion can hit a face up 15-18 foot jumper, but the release is rather slow and got blocked several times. Defensively Okoro is a major shot blocking presence. Top 10 prospect nationally and the no doubt top prospect in 2019 in Illinois.
#3 PG Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park – 2018)
Last Year’s Rank: #16
Dosunmu is not only the top point guard in the 2018 class, but the top prospect overall. The rangy 6’3” point guard does a little bit of everything and does them all at a high level. He is a big time scorer that is slippery through traffic being able to finish at the rim with great body control. Deep range on his three point shot that he can hit both off the catch and pulling up. Solid passer that has a feel for getting others involved in the half court. Defensively he pressures the ball and creates turnovers in the open floor. High-major prospect.
#4 Jordan Goodwin (Belleville Althoff – 2017)
Last Year’s Rank: #5
He is simply the best wing/guard prospect in the state’s 2017 class. It is because of his insanely intense and never ending motor along with elite competitiveness that he will not let his team lose. Goodwin is a supremely physical wing that uses that strength to get in the lane where he scores through opponents. Along with that strength he has great body control to move the ball to get his shot off. Plus plus offensive rebounder that hits the glass better than almost anyone at any position in the state. Very good passer with a feel for getting others involved.
#5 Tim Finke (Champaign Central – 2018)
Last Year’s Rank: #2
Finke is the top 2018 wing in the state because of his combination of athleticism, skill, and versatility. The 6’5” shooting guard has good size for the position and continues to get stronger. That was evident as July went along with how his toughness improved crashing the glass and making more plays on the interior. Elite moving without the basketball and can drill spot up threes. Quality athlete that can finish in the transition game. High-major prospect.
