Michigan’s 109th-ranked 2017 has aspirations to play at the Division II level, and so far he’s seeing just Division III interest, and from just one school.
“I really don’t know, I have Albion looking at me. But I’ve been talking to my coach and he’s trying to get me into some schools,” said Warren. “And hopefully that will all come around by the end of basketball season.”
There’s still time for the talented senior to turn some heads, he has his whole winter ahead of him. But as of right now, he says it’s D2 or nothing.
Of course, that mindset could change over time.
“They’ve (Albion) just been emailing my mom, but I don’t think I really want to go there,” said Warren. “D3 I don’t really want to play. I’d just try to go to school for academics (if no higher interest comes).”
Traditionally a post, Warren says he’s been working to improve his perimeter skills, and will be able to showcase that with the Bearcats this season.
“My coach says he’s going to move me out to a wing this year,” said Warren. “What I really like to do is rebound and shoot. And I’ve been working on my ball-handling a lot, and my jump-shot and footwork too.”
With his senior season just two months away, Warren mentioned what it is he’ll bring to the table this winter.
“I think I’ll have a lot of the same role, though we did lose a couple seniors,” he said. “I’m really looking to add blocks and rebounds this season, and score more. This season should turn out pretty good.”
