Carlson played in several local events this spring and what he saw in opposite uniforms has helped him learn how to play.
“I feel that meeting new people and making friends was the best experience,” said Carlson about playing with Twin Ports Pride.
“Aau didn’t make me a better basketball player but seeing some of the top competitors did. It showed me how much I had to work in order to get to that level.”
Duluth East won a dozen games last year and hopes to improve on that record this winter.
“Our team needs to be more committed and make basketball a priority,” said Carlson. “Plans for myself are to gain weight and become more athletic.”
Cody scored over 14 a game as a junior and will now be the main scoring option. He will get help from guard Jack Thompson.
Carlson is also thinking about college for next year.
“Minnesota-Duluth is probably the biggest,” said Carlson of who is showing most interest. “Other smaller d3 schools around Minnesota and Wisconsin have contacted me.”
Carlson will visit UMD soon.
“I am going to the UMD football opener to meet players and coaches,” said Carlson. “I would like to visit St. Cloud State and Sioux Falls.”
