Top 40 Rankings: 35-31
#35 Dontez Thomas PG Hillcrest Prep – Thomas is a crafty lefty who can impact a game in an array of ways which is why is in this spot in the Top 40 rankings. Prior to reclassifying and moving to Hillcrest Prep, Thomas was monumental in Gilbert Christian’s championship run due to his ability to do so many tasks. He gets into the paint well and has a nice change of direction. He does not force shots and does a good job of finding teammates when the help side defense rotates. He is one of the most well-balanced players in the state and should be prepared to have a lot of success at Fort Lewis college.
#34 Jaxson Baker SG Brophy – Baker is an intriguing prospect due to his height, athleticism, and ability to shoot the basketball. He can play the 2 or 3 at the next level and extends the court as well as anyone. He also has a confident handle and can guard like sized wings as well as slightly bigger 4s. His length as aids him in staying with shorter, quicker guards. His versatile skill sets make him a mid to low NCAA Division-I prospect.
#33 Brennen Davis SG Basha – Davis has can do a number of things extremely well. Although Basha has a lot of talent, much of their success will be contingent upon him. He is a good athlete who has a solid handle which enables him to get into the paint frequently. Moreover, he can shoot the basketball at an above average rate and guard at multiple positions.
#32 Jaelen House PG Shadow Mountain – House is very active on the defensive end. He pressures the basketball well and has a good basketball IQ which enables him to create many plays. He has a good fill for the help side defense and can create for himself as well as others. His shooting is consistent and his percentages should demonstrate that next season.
#31 Connor Dunn C Brophy/ Jok Jok SF Moon Valley – Dunn and Jok Jok are the only tie in the Top 40 rankings. Both players impact the game in such a positive manner. Both possess good length and size. However, Dunn plays much more back to the basket whereas Jok can play on the block but has nice sweep through moves and a consistent jumper. Both of them close up the paint on the defensive end due to their athleticism and good understanding of back side rotations. Look for both of them to make big impacts this next season.
