Anderson, a lanky 6’7” forward with a soft touch and pretty left handed stroke, made the move to Millwood with the intention of getting better and more prepared for the next level moving forward. He reclassified to the 2019 class, and believes playing better competition with Millwood is going to make him a lot better.
“It was a good transition,” Anderson said about his move so far. “I’m trying to get stronger physically, buckling down on my defensive game and work on my handle so I can play more out on the wing.”
Strength is the biggest concern for Anderson’s game moving forward. He has the length and skill set to be an impact player at this level now, but he hasn’t fully grown into his body and his slight frame makes him vulnerable when banging with shorter, yet stockier guys in the paint.
Anderson has shown flashes early in his career that he’s a prospect on the rise.Last season Anderson had somewhat of a breakout year, putting himself on the map as a prospect to watch. He shot the ball with confidence, rebounded well on both ends and was a constant mismatch for slower bigs and shorter wings. Playing a tougher schedule this year, he’s looking forward to showing his full potential while competing against the best.
“Definitely plan on making some noise this year with Millwood, go up and down the road and get some W’s,” Anderson said. “For me personally, I just want to become a better player and better teammates and improve on both sides of the ball.”
Anderson has received some minor interest in colleges so far, but says that nothing serious has come his way yet. As for his ultimate goal at Millwood, to change that as soon as possible
“I want to get my name out there, become a player to watch and be really marketable to colleges moving forward.”
With an extra year to fill out and his continued improvement on the wing, expect Anderson to take some big steps later on this season as he gets acclimated and finds his role at Millwood.
