Because of a frontcourt rotation if seniors Seth Peterson, Braydon Lund, and Jesse Roberts joined by U of Mary committed Justin Engg there wasn’t much room for a fifth frontcourt player in the state champion rotation.
The 6-foot-5 Olthoff spent last year playing for a 16-4 junior varsity team and it was a great year. That and of course being a part of a state champion squad.
“I’d say nothing could compare to the feeling of when Minot High won state,” Olthoff told PHD. “That’s my definite favorite moment for last year. The only stat that I enjoy seeing is my blocks, which was 18.”
This off-season Max played with his team in events and also joined up with a local Minot AAU squad for a couple tournaments.
“I lifted during the summer, participated in basketball camps and team camps through Minot High School, and played in a few AAU tournaments. It was a pretty good time.”
Now Olthoff is ready to help his team three-peat. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to help the club.
“My personal goals for this season involve doing what I can to help the team win games,” Max said. “As a team we could improve on everything, but I feel it would be extremely beneficial to work on team chemistry and endurance.”
