PrepHoopsIllinois Top 250 Expo: 2020 Standouts
It is extremely early in the process for the class of 2020. These prospects have not even played a minute of high school basketball yet. There are a handful of prospects in this class that impressed us and showed long term potential including our MVP. Take a look at our freshman standouts from the PrepHoopsIllinois Top 250 Expo.
PG Adam Miller (Peoria Manual – 2020 – MVP)
Our MVP for the 2016 PrepHoopsIllinois Top 250 Expo was one of the youngest players in attendance. Peoria Manual 2020 point guard Adam Miller proved he is the next elite lead guard prospect to come out of the state of Illinois. The 6’2” lefty is smooth and explosive with the ball in his hands. Miller has an advanced feel for the game at a young age. Pushes it in transition with speed, but can also play with pace changing speeds and keeping the defense off balance. Big time passer that throws dimes with a lot of zip on them. Can score at all three levels. Miller hit multiple threes including a few sick step backs. Solid mid-range game and uses his body control around the rim to finish. Defensively has potential getting in passing lanes. No doubt high major prospect.
G Dan Florey (St. Ignatius – 2020)
Florey is a 6’2” combo guard that has size early on for the guard position. Overall has a feel for the game at a young age. Doesn’t look intimidated playing against older players. Has an old school feel to his game and you can tell he is a gym rat. As a scorer has the ability to get in the lane where he finishes with runners/floaters while taking on contact. Nice pull up mid-range jumper that is most effective right now from 15-18 feet and has potential to stretch to three as time goes on. Active and has a nose for the ball also contributing on the boards.
SG Lance Mosley (DePaul Prep – 2020)
Mosley is a 6’1” shooting guard with a long and lanky frame. Has the build that he should continue to grow a few more inches during his high school career. Very projectable upside prospect with tools to work with. Smooth jumper that has elevation off the floor. Really excelled in the drill work looking very fluid with his ball handling.
SG Matthew Ambrose (Stevenson – 2020)
This 6’2” shooting guard is the son of Stevenson’s head coach. He plays the game like a coach’s son too. Very high IQ. Moves to spots to get open. Ambrose was one of the best shooters regardless of class at the camp. The shooting guard has sound mechanics and consistent accuracy. Was best spotting up. Bright future for this kid.
G PJ Edwards (Springfield Lanphier – 2020)
We were able to see Edwards some during the summer playing up on the 15U level for the Illinois Irish. He continued his quality play against older competition at the Top 250 Expo. At 6’2” the combo guard has a strong frame already. The power guard has a good feel for the game and uses his strength and quickness inside to score in the paint. Streaky perimeter shooter. Has flashed the ability to get others involved. This is the next in line of Lanphier point guard prospects!
