The wing positions are looking fairly solid especially toward the top with potential D1 talent. A lot of athletic prospects that have a chance to impact that game on both ends of the floor. Beginning with the shooting guards it starts with Perry Cowan (DePaul Prep). Cowan has been one of the top prospects in this class since it entered high school. He is a silky smooth wing that can score at all three levels. Projectablity and upside! A trio of athletic two guards follow in Myles Baker (Whitney Young), Anthony Fairlee (Springfield Southeast), and LJ Johnson (Morgan Park). All three are big time athletes that are in the process of refining their games, but there is no questioning they have to raw tools to get there. Jirehl Brock (Quincy), Mitch Mascari (Geneva), and Lance Jones (Evanston) are three slashing wings that can score in the lane. Smooth perimeter shooters that connect from three include Antonio Reeves (Kenwood), Erik Cohn (York), and Malcolm Miller (Shelbyville).
Lots of upside at the small forward position. Big fan of Waukegan 6’5” forward Bryant Brown. The long and rangy wing has great athleticism and plays with a motor. Handles it well and is quick scoring on the interior. Chance to be a big time perimeter defender. Brown is followed by his Illinois Wolves program mates Kai Bates-Diop (Normal U-High) and Johnny Roeser (Carmel) who are each smooth perimeter scorers with size. Tough and rugged athletic duo Isaac Stanback (Hillcrest) and Chris Payton (Bloomington) both played for the Mac Irvin Fire 15U where they impacted the game with their toughness and strength. A trio of prospects that aren’t there quite yet, but we like their long term projectability are Bryce Hopkins (Fremd), Mohammed Alausa (Chicago U-High), and Martynas Macenis (Stagg).
