Justin Smith (Stevenson)
It was a statement July for Justin Smith. The Stevenson wing continued right where he left off in the spring with his play for the Mac Irvin Fire at Peach Jam and when we saw him in person at the NY2LA Summer Jam. Smith is a smooth offensive player that is playing with confidence and putting his entire game together being able to score at all three levels with ease.
Nana Akenten (Bolingbrook)
Akenten might have been the most dominant player we saw throughout the spring and summer. He played well again in July for Hoopers/Celtics being a dominant scorer with his ability to knock down mid-range jumpers pulling up and threes when in rhythm. Plus defender and rebounds well for his position.
Max Muller (Porta)
Muller is a prospect that continued to grow on us from late in the spring and it continued through July with the Illinois Irish. His versatility being able to do a little bit of everything as well as shooting the basketball from deep makes him intriguing at the D2 level.
Marvin Nesbitt Jr (Butler College Prep)
Nesbitt quietly had a big spring and summer for the Chicago Demons on the circuit. The 6’3” shooting guard plays at a high school that doesn’t get a ton of publicity and wasn’t seen consistently by college coaches, but has built some buzz among low-major and D2 programs.
Bryan Jakobsze (Downers Grove North)
Jakobsze helped his stock in July with his play for Mercury Elite 17U. He used his versatility and toughness to do a little bit of everything passing, scoring, and rebounding. Also played tough defense. Offensively he can hit the open jumper when the ball is swung to him.
Jose Grubbs (Joliet Central)
Grubbs is one of our favorite players in this class with his ability to be a great glue guy at the small college level. He is just one of those kids that you want on your team because of his versatility and toughness on both ends of the floor. Grubbs flashed more skill improvement offensively in July with his ability to score off the dribble and hit an occasional mid-range jumper.
