The point guard group is led by Nojel Eastern (Evanston). At 6’6” Eastern doesn’t have a true position and point-forward might be the closest thing. Eastern is a big guard that has a plus feel for the game and getting others involved. He is smooth with the ball in his hands and never gets rattled. He is head and shoulders (literally) over the rest of this talented class.
Where things get interesting is the depth of mid-major and low-major targets in the class. Alonzo Verge is the ultimate high risk high reward prospect. He is an exciting playmaker with the ball in his hands, but has problems with playing too much one on one and turnovers. The Young Legends duo of Jimmy Sotos (Conant) and Jacob Keller (Fewnick) each bring different styles to the table with Sotos being more of a shooter and Keller a tough slasher with defensive ability. Teyvion Kirk (Joliet West), PJ Pipes (Lemont), Tai Bibbs (West Chicago), Mark Smith (Edwardsville), Evan Gilyard (Simeon), and Keondre Schumacher (Normal U-High) are all prospects that are getting a wide variety of looks at the MM/LM levels.
Quality D2 prospects are at the position as well. Some of the guys we like to be successful at the D2 level include Jalen Clanton (Riverside Brookfield), Marcus Garrett (Hillcrest), Devin Whitelow (Washingon), Ramar Evans (Loyola), Aundrae Williams (Springfield Lanphier), and Josiah Wallace (Marshall).
At the D3/NAIA level some of our favorite guys that will be impact floor generals are Joey Coffaro (Hersey), Jack Nolan (Benet), Grant Wolfe (Effingham), Milton Wordlow (Hales), Calvin Hill (Kenwood), Allonte Pickens (Curie), Rico Sylvester (Belleville East), and Justin Shadowens (Marion).
