Vantage Hoops was in the gym to catch the action throughout the week. Below, we run down a scouting report of a few standouts from the class of 2019.
PG James Bishop | Team Melo
Baltimore native James Bishop played extremely hard for the 16U Melo squad out in Vegas. The long, athletic and skilled guard is a very good point guard prospect with a solid middle game and a nice handle. The future is bright for the product of Mount Saint Joseph High School.
PF Makhi Mitchell | DC Blue Devils
Dominant. Aggressive. Productive. Relentless. Just a few words to describe Makhi Mitchell’s impact for his team in Vegas. The rising sophomore big sets big screens, rolls hard, and uses his massive hands and wide catch radius to efficiently secure the basketball. He is making a serious claim among the top long-term prospects in the DMV area.
SG Marvin Price | DC Blue Devils
Marvin Price has unreal size and strength for just a rising sophomore shooting guard at about 6-foot-5. The lefty is developing a nice skill set to go along with a consistent three point touch to go along with his budding athleticism and consistently improving fitness.
PG Ephraim Reed | Uncommon Bulls
Defensively, Ephraim Reed does an awesome job applying pressure and engaging his man from 94 feet. Reed, who played up with the 16U team, has great instincts and quickness, and isn’t afraid to dive on the floor for a 50/50 ball.
PG Cameron Savage | Uncommon Bulls
Another freshman floor general playing up with the 16’s in Vegas, Cameron Savage was locked in on both ends of the floor. The hard-working young playmaker shrewdly used head fakes to find better looks for himself, and often used his speed and craftiness to set up others.
C Oscar Tshiewbe | Team Loaded VA
Oscar Tshiewbe has all the tools to be a big time post prospect. The super athletic big man is a prideful and instinctive rim protector who enjoys controlling the paint. Tshiewbe is very quick, has solid footwork, and is developing some nice go to moves in the low post as well.
