This past weekend he scored 25 points and his team beat Fargo North in the Courts Plus League winning the league for the third year in a row (two losses in three years). Setness is also a guy that traveled to compete in the Prep Hoops Combines and he played spring and summer AAU with D-17s.
“The top experiences with D-17s are hard to think of but definitely playing with and against great players has forced me to develop my abilities and get stronger as a player,” Ty told PHD. “And with every year of ball I gain confidence and the excitement to get better for the upcoming season.”
Settness was a Fargo Davies reserve last year and he gave a good team five points and three boards a night shooting 57 percent from the floor and 66 percent from the foul line. He’s working every day to be a big contributor on one of the Class A favorites in North Dakota.
“Personally I try to go to the gym ever yday, but as for the team we will be starting open gyms pretty quickly and getting back into it as far as pushing each other and making each other better on the court,” said Setness.
Setness is a strong and agile athlete that could play many sports but basketball is his love.
“Basketball is the only sport coaches are looking at me for, but if I had to go in order: Mayville State, Concordia-Moorhead, Jamestown, then some other schools wanting me to attend some camps, those are the schools showing most interest in me.”
Setness will likely soon set some visits to local schools in the coming weeks.
“I don’t have any planned as of this moment, but Mayville State and Jamestown have commented on the topic so those visits will probably happen,” said Setness. “In terms of who I want to visit it is unknown.
“I want to visit colleges for the feel of the campus so anywhere would be fine, if I wanted to check out the success of the team or something I could just look online. But in all honesty I would visit anywhere because it is a way of seeing what is available.”
