At 6’4” Bland is slippery through traffic and the lefty has a sweet looking shot. Not a go to scorer, but can be a nice complimentary and versatile player at the next level for a D3/NAIA school.
Bland spoke about what he likes to do on the floor.
“My first instinct is definitely left hand drive. I can use a spin move. When they start playing me to the drive I can hit a couple threes or mid-range jumpers.”
It was a successful June preparing for the upcoming high school season with his game as well.
“We lost only one game to a good Bloomington team. Overall we didn’t do too bad. We are looking good. Me and Aaron Shoot are killing it together.”
With Quad City Elite they added junior Aaron Shoot to the 17U in June who is Bland’s high school teammate.
“Going into July Aaron Shoot was a guy that me and Coach Wynn were really wanting to get. I talked to him and his family. The hardest part was getting him to play up. He is not used to a lot of competition as a 2018. He has done really well and I think that will reflect on our high school team.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“A lot of D3 schools with Edgewood and Ripon College. Some NAIA looks from Hannibal Lagrange and Clarke. I have a couple D2’s looking in Quincy and Sioux Falls. Also interest from Upper Iowa.”
