“I want to get myself ready for the next level at a junior college,” Wood told NHR. “I’m looking for a college that’s a perfect fit for me. I don’t mind going far. Also the coaches that I would prefer are the type of coaches that care and treat me like family. I hope they can help me improve on my work ethic.”
Wood describes himself as a quieter kid, and wouldn’t mind a smaller college or learning environment. He’s very interested in art, and he sent NHR some of his hand-lettering work that he has drawn recently. I don’t often speak from an art-school perspective in these articles, but as someone in graduate school for art, Lamarr can do some pretty good stuff. He’s got talent.
“I wanted to major in art and join the art industry,” Wood said of his career aspirations. “I want to learn more about art and history on photos and paintings… that’s interesting to me. I want to meet famous artists as I get older.”
This fall, Lamarr plans on staying in the gym and getting better and stronger in preparation for his senior season. He says he “loves getting stronger,” which is always good to hear.
And what about the road to state? Patrick Henry plays in Class AAA, and DeLaSalle is the five-time defending champion. How far can Lamarr and company (Jordan Lynn, Savion Scott and more) go in the playoffs?
“All the way,” Wood said. “I feel that if everyone works hard and play their roles, we’ll be just fine. We can make it far next year, all we need is hard work.”
