Continue ReadingNormal U-High 2019 small forward Kai Bates-Diop is a projectable wing that has long arms and a frame he can add weight on to very much similar in that way to his older brother who is at Ohio State. The younger KBD can also really shoot the basketball. That was on full display as he knocked down threes off the catch in July for the Illinois Wolves 15U. Defensively he moves well laterally and can block shots in the transition game. Also excels in open floor as a wing finisher. UPSIDE!
Bates-Diop spoke about his summer with the Wolves.
“It has gone well. We have won most of our games. We have won most of the tournaments we have played. I have played well. I am getting better every game and making sure my shot is on.”
Where is he trying to work on improving his game?
“Going off the dribble and hitting my pull up. Rebounding more. My shot is usually there.”
Normal U-High should have a very solid team with him and senior Keondre Schumacher leading the way.
“In June we won most of our games and shootouts. We have good chemistry as a team. I am looking forward to a good season.”
Wisconsin is one college that has shown early interest in the young wing.
