His BBA Force team won 28 of 36 games this spring and summer finishing number two in the PHD 17U rankings.
“I was able to play against high competition and against kids from around the country,” Ethan told PHD. “I also learned many things as I started off the summer in what I believe was my first major shooting slump and I learned to handle it and use other parts of my game not just shooting.
“It made me a batter basketball player and a better person as I worked hard to overcome it. Another top experience was playing the game I love with some of my closest friends. All of my teammates like each other and it was a blast to play with them!”
Next up is senior year at Tea High School were expectations are extremely high for Ethan and his teammates that include his brother Noah who is considered one of the best young players in the state. How are they getting ready for this important year?
“I’m going to get in the gym and work on my ball handling and get in the weight room to get stronger. Team wise I’m just going to try and get this team closer than we already are before the season and be a leader.”
Dakota State and Morningside offered Ethan basketball scholarships after watching him play with BBA this July. The reward of a scholarship was very exciting for Ethan.
“I’m definitely hearing a lot from Morningside because I got a feel for the campus on my visit but I plan on making more visits over the course of the school year and end of summer,” Ethan said.
“It felt good to receive a scholarship offer, I am very blessed and give all the glory to God. But I have very high expectations for myself. So I am going to keep working hard and playing the game I love!”
Freidel may take as many as three to five more visits.
“I plan on visiting Dakota State, Concordia-Seward, and USF. I would love to visit DWU and Augie as well.”
