Meads has taken a unique route to getting here as he did not play as a freshman, “I was in Texas and didn’t play ball there, [but I] moved to Phoenix and played for South [Mountain] my sophomore year.” After a sophomore year in which he averaged almost 12 points per game, Meads decided to attend Student Choice Charter School.
At Student Choice, Meads was able to lead the team to a state championship. Although he had a positive experience in the CAA league and at Student Choice, Meads has made the decision to enroll at Camelback High School in the AIA. He should be a game changer for a school that did not have much success this past season.
Although he has managed to go largely under the radar, he has received interest from “Central Arizona and Chaminade.” He does not have any offers at this point, but that should change as he gains more exposure this upcoming season.
Meads brings a well balanced game. However, his biggest strength is his ability to shoot the basketball. Meads is one of the most talented players in the state at pulling off the dribble. Furthermore, he is capable shooting off of the catch as well. He has an array of moves, including a nice step back in which he uses his quickness and length to create good separation. It is also important to note that he does a good job on the defensive end. He takes great pride in locking down the opposing player.
Due largely to his school situation, Meads has flown under the radar until recently. At the ACU Elite ID Camp, Meads impressed all of the viewers with multiple coaches remarking that he could be a low NCAA Division-1 talent. This assessment is quite accurate as he is a long point guard who can do it all. He has a good feel for the game and a high basketball IQ. Like all talented guards, he has little trouble getting by the first defender and he does a great job of making reads at the second level.
As far as his goals for the upcoming season are concerned, he remarked, “I want to win another state championship… I want to get a scholarship for college ball.” In addition, he noted that he is hoping to get a degree in “business” or “mortician”.
This under the radar talent also carries a 3.5 GPA. Look for Meads and Camelback to make some noise in this upcoming season. He is certainly capable of playing his way into a college opportunity.
